Hot Picassos
By Richard Amada on Jun 10, 2009 | In Visual Arts
Let's just say this is probably a "blue period" for a Paris museum that recently discovered it's missing a sketchbook of 32 Picasso drawings valued at about $11 million.
BBC News reports that the Picasso Museum doesn't know the exact time or circumstances of the theft. Because of the difficulty of selling the sketchbook on the open market, one insurance expert is quoted as saying the crime seems "ill conceived."
If there's no way to market the art, then there's at least a reasonable chance it'll be recovered. Whether the reputation of the museum's security force will recover anytime soon is another story.
